Getting My House In Order


The last few weeks have been difficult. I got bronchitis and was completely incapacitated for ten days. My husband’s ticker began tocking causing great alarm. I was offered some freelance work which of course set off my deadline anxiety disorder. The decluttering and packing ground to a stop and I began to feel overwhelmed.

Thank goodness for Lyn at http://theamateurweeder.blogspot.ca/ and her love of lists.
Reading her latest post I realized that making a list was the way to get structure and regain control of my life. I used to have lists. When I worked in health care I was highly organized. At home though I wanted to let all that go and the attitude has carried on into my current work from home career. Very enjoyable it has been too, until this point.

Now among several new lists is one for the blog.
Goal-10 posts a month on specific days and under five (elastic) headings
Headings:
Book Review-as part of Roses and Other Gardening Joys meme plus at least one more
Personalities/History -I’m longing to do something on plant hunters
Saving the Planet -I had never intended to have this as a topic but it kept creeping in
Gardens/Travel-I love visiting gardens, I’ve got tours of Vancouver Island and San Diego lined up
Opinions/Reflections-if the mood strikes me I have a slot for it. Blue Moon stuff in here too.

I’ve now got a template into which I can enter ideas and a much needed writing schedule.
Its wobbly but its there and I’m awash with relief.

    Sounds like a good list - writing things down and having a plan can help get the chaos back under control.

  2. I'm a huge list maker. It's a relief to have all my thoughts on paper instead of spiraling around in my head. It helps me relax. I keep massive lists of garden-related things so I don't have to worry about bolting upright in the middle of the night thinking about what I had planned to put in that spot next to the blah blah blah. I like your blog topics. :o) Sounds like good reading!

  3. Sorry to hear about your bronchitis and your husband's ticker. I hope both of you are better now. I make lists when I'm feeling overwhelmed, or when I really don't want to forget something. I used to make a daily list, and need to start doing that again. It really helps me to stay focused on what I want to accomplish. Your rose is gorgeous. I'm so thrilled that you included my meme on your list! :)
