The tour gardens I have shown you so far were all situated on 5 acres or more. My favourites, however, were the two smallest gardens. The first one is on a town sized lot surrounding a mobile home. I was more than impressed by how the owners used the space.
The garden flowed around all four sides in a serpentine fashion. I'll try and give you a sense of following the path from entrance to exit.
Front
Through the side gate
Around the corner to the back fence
Back wall of the house facing fence above
The back fence terminates at the shed I showed you last time, the front of the shed faces a small vegetable garden on the end ( fourth side) of the house
They have incorporated a design seen in much larger gardens but perfectly scaled for their space.
My personal favourite, no surprise, a cottage garden.
Happy Gardening everyone.
I like the cottage gardens most too! More interesting, I think.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tour that must have been. Like you, I favour the cottage garden.
ReplyDeleteIhere were twelve gardens on the tour. It was a full day.
DeleteI enjoyed all the tour pictures in this and the previous posts. Lots of inspiration here! I have to say I wish my garden was a bit neater after seeing some of the pictures.
ReplyDeleteI like order in my house but in the garden I embrace randomness. I'm hoping the cottage garden owners will let me have another look.
DeleteThe first garden was very neat and tidy and beautifully planted but like you my favourite was the cottage garden I just love the haphazard nature of it - very similar to mine.
ReplyDeleteHaphazard-just the word I was looking for to describe my gardening style. I would love your garden, I just know it.
DeleteI enjoy a cottage garden as well. It is the blooms running rampant I enjoy so much. The fencing is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteRampant-another great word. Now when people ask me what kind of garden I have I will reply "rampant haphazard". I will use a solemn tone as if referencing an ancient and venerable British style known only to the most learned of gardeners.
DeleteI can see why you loved both...the structure of one is wonderful and the open free of the other is just as lovely.
ReplyDeleteThe front of the structured house was so precise in plant placement it was almost too much for me. The all out go for it inclusion of the tree made me think it might be worth seeing me and I'm glad I persevered.
DeleteI enjoyed the photos of both types of gardens. They were probably perfectly fitted for the gardeners in those homes. I like to think that my garden is a reflection of me, which changes a little from time to time!
ReplyDeleteI have never seen such an incredible garden around a mobile home!! WOW! I don't think I've ever seen a mobile home with hardscaping, either! Both gardens are beauties but I'd love the cottage garden, too. :o)
ReplyDeleteI liked the owners. Put their money into the garden instead of a house.
DeleteI love the cottage garden also. Those foxgloves and delphiniums are just amazing!
ReplyDeleteJust popped over to your blog and had an enjoyable cottagey visit.
DeleteI love flow-y lines - as opposed to straight ones. So I love the first garden. The cottage garden is also divine - but what are the sticks doing!
