The Perfect Day For..

Yesterday was one of those perfect days when the sun is warm and the breeze is light. It was perfect for
sitting on the back step having a long distance chat with a special friend
planting more seeds in the greenhouse
hanging washing on the line
humming birds buzzing around my head
tying up peas

grabbing a ripe strawberry each time I passed the bed
talking to a robin
rejoicing at the flowering of the white peony

and the first buds on the mock orange I planted last year
inhaling the cinnamon scent of pinks
and for admiring the roses on the fence

Last Friday was perfect for handing in my resignation from the Library board. No meetings, no stroking egos, no hauling books, no keeping tabs on a thousand and one details. Lots more space in my brain for garden plans-yippee do dah.

    1. The white peony has not flowered since we moved in three years ago. It is celebrating the warmth and light it now receives thanks to the neighbour removing some large trees.

    1. Some people were forgetting I wasn't a paid employee and getting rather demanding. A good sign it was time to go.

    1. I can't get over the peas either. They have very spindly ankles so fingers crossed they can keep going a bit longer.
