I am exhausted from the constant "what shall we do" "which one is best" debate. In an effort to save my sanity, or perhaps just losing all perspective from sleep deprivation, I'm seeking your input dear readers.
House A: View
You have seen this before.
House B: View
This is the view if you were standing in the back yard.
House A: Kitchen
This is far beyond the requirements of my culinary skills. I could, however, amuse myself by pretending I was the host of a cooking show. Everything in this baby is HIGH end.
House B: Kitchen
I'm not saying a word.
A peak into the master bedroom of House B:
and in House A:
Heart or head folks, that is the question.
More to come next week as we head out again.
Dear Susan,
ReplyDeleteBased upon these three photos my choice would be House A.
Why?
VIews:
I prefer view A. It looks uninterrupted. I am not sure who's land that is with the shed on it but if it isn't yours then the potential is there for something horrible to be built. Added to that, view A looks more romantic to my mind.
Kitchen:
House A wins. It looks like you could walk right in and go to work even if you were just boiling some eggs. House B would frighten me. I would be wondering about the pipes and the cost of a refit.
Bedroom:
Forget the furnishings as these won't be there when you move in. From your photo House A would win because it has much nicer windows, letting in more light. House B would I think need some major work on the bedroom. Is that a concrete floor in House B?
So,
based upon these three photos I would be going for House A.
Bye for now
Kirk
Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I thought I was crazy to post my dilemma but the responses have turned out to be very helpful.
DeleteHello Susan:
ReplyDeleteFurnishings do not a home make. We try to never be in the kitchen. The view, the view....for us it would be all about the view.....and how inexpensively we could obtain the view!
I thought for sure you would be gourmet cooks. We are the subject of much discussion at dinner parties. All our friends think we are crazy to go off to the back of beyond. If we buy something we have to fix up it will only confirm their opinion. Love it.
DeleteFollow your heart! Always look past things like how well they've dressed the house. If the one is empty try to at the other the same!
ReplyDeleteNice to hear from you Kev. You are absolutely right. I am going to follow my heart.
DeleteSusan I am going with the fabulous view of house A. Magnificent!
ReplyDeleteThe view at House B is actually more stunning. The photos don't do it justice. Just a question of do we want to take on a renovation.
DeleteSusan, house A looks bright and airy, looks like it has views from every window. I try follow my heart, but hopefully it matches the wallet, at least approximately ...
ReplyDeleteDarn that wallet. Ours is rather opinionated and frugally minded.
DeleteHouse A is already done up, and there is much to be said for that! Which garden space is the most fun?
ReplyDeleteOh, you have hit the nail on the head. When we set out on our search I told the realtor I was buying a garden, not a house. I think, crazy as it may seem, I'm going to stick to that criteria.
DeleteFrom the photos, House A is the nicer choice (obviously), but no doubt more expensive. That view is awesome! ... For House B, there may be the need to spend money AND time on repairs, updates and major remodeling if you want to do that. So the question is: if you have to spend on House B, will you really save after all? And you'd still not have that view, the light from the windows, vaulted ceilings, etc.
ReplyDeleteHouse A is actually surrounded by forest which makes the exterior quite dark. If I could have House A on House B,s lot I wouldn't be in such a dilemma.
DeleteWhich house has the highest resale value, makes you the happiest, has the best garden opportunities and comes with the most comfortable monthly payments? Only you and your husband can answer those. But I like the nicer house the best. :o)
