Drove from Calgary to Vancouver and spent two nights being nurtured by the in laws. Up early to catch the ferry to the Sunshine Coast and then a second one to Powell River. Minutes after getting off the first ferry the moving company informed us our furniture would be arriving a day late. A cosy day in a hotel listening to the rain, watching T.V. and eating take out.

Next day moved into the house we rented while we continue to search for just the right place. When I first saw this house I was pleased to see it had a nice lawn surrounded by flower beds. I was mentally pruning, weeding and mulching as I walked towards the door. The house is large (our side) with a small suite attached off to the side (nice young couple). Turns out the suite occupants are responsible for the large front garden and I get the postage stamp size patch of grass at the back.
Unbelievable |
Currently waiting for the right time to offer my services at the front. Fortunately I get a lovely view of the roses still in bloom
taken by me, obviously |
and the fairies.
Yes, at the bottom of the garden |
The roses are a big deal as in my prairie garden they were long gone. I can't wait for my own garden. Roses and more roses.
Planning to take it easy until Christmas, my happy little bubble was burst by an unexpected project crashing on to my desk. If it wasn't critical and time sensitive I would close my eyes and wait for it to go away but nooo. By the end of the day I'm so ready to crawl into bed. Blogging seems beyond my strength, not to mention that as soon as I get overtired I lose the ability to spell. Looks like for the time being, or at least for another week, my blog must fend for itself. Note, I will absolutely not be giving up reading other blogs, its the only thing keeping me sane.
I know you are pleased to have the trip behind you. I do hope you are settled in quickly and allowed to help with the large garden. Just take it "bird by bird". Bonnie
ReplyDeleteThxs Bonnie, the view out of the window is fortunately enough to calm me.
DeleteDear Susan,
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you must feel exhausted and not a little stressed...
Roses: I couldn't agree more. We have only a very small balcony garden and I cannot wait to have a proper one again where we can grow lots of roses to gladden or hearts.
The teapot is always ready, the cups and saucers laid and the cake sliced, over at my blog so drop by any time!
Kirk
Sounds wonderful. Might the cake be a victoria sandwich?
DeleteHi Susan!
ReplyDeleteThis is always such a busy time of year for most of us, but you really have a lot going on! Take care. Our blogs can wait when things get too crazy, so no worries. :)
Hugs,
Zuzu
I'm looking forward to Christmas. Merriment is definitely in order.
DeleteOh my dear, such an adventure in moving! But this too shall pass. Take comfort knowing the work project is likely finite, just like the winter and The Move, while the varieties of roses, on the other hand, are nearly infinite!
ReplyDeleteWise wise words, a real blessing. Thank You.
DeleteUnfortunately I am unable to see the photos, except the first two, the Wiki's. I'm excited for your move. I garden in western Oregon and the ocean influence makes west coast gardening really enjoyable. I'm sure you'll love it.
ReplyDeleteWhen you get a minute, I'd like to know how you were able to get the Amazon book gadgets on your sidebar. I probably should know how you did it but I'm really quite computer illiterate. :) My email is grace@gracepete.com. I'm sure you're very busy with the move, so please, only at your convenience. I appreciate it so much. Thank you.
The photos take a long time to load. I have a new program and haven't worked the kinks out yet. As for gardening I'll keep looking at your website for inspiration.
DeleteI'll email you once I remember how to do the Amazon thing. I think it is an app you can add thru blogspot.
So wonderful to have blooming roses at this time of year! Hopefully the couple will be thrilled to hear you actually want to prune and weed!
ReplyDeleteWhen the times comes I think I might go to the max on roses. Love the photo.
DeleteHang in there and Merry Christmas! I'm always trying to cram more roses into my garden. :o)
ReplyDeleteA Very Merry Christmas to you too. I'm hanging in and learning to check tide tables so I don't drown when I go for a walk.
