Turns out I already have one. The chickadee hopped into the urn that trickles water into our little pond. He obviously enjoyed it as he stayed long enough for us to rush inside for the camera.
I imagine, to him, it looked like this

Wouldn't it be nice...?
Such sweet photographs Susan!

I have to credit my husband as the photographer.
DeleteHello Susan,
ReplyDeletethat is a nice courtyard garden that you have. I like the look of that pot in the bottom left of the last photo.
Bye for now.

The gorgeous courtyard in the bottom picture, sorry to say, isn't mine although something similar is on the list for the new place. Right now, if I could shrink myself, I would be happy to use our little urn along with the bird.
DeleteWe used to have a lovebird who would shower under the kitchen faucet. Birds are so resourceful.
ReplyDeleteI'm big on sharing this planet with all its creatures so I enjoy it when they get up close.
DeleteThe idea of it is nice but I'd be worried a video of my naked butt would end up on YouTube.
ReplyDeleteI guess it would give your students something to talk about.
DeleteI love chickadees. The ones around here are bold enough to eat from your hand, especially in the fall and winter. Those are lovely pictures. I wish I enjoyed gardening more than I do. I like having a garden, I just don't like doing most of the gardening work. But I guess I should work on it a bit more so that I have a nice place to put my Daniel Craig garden gnomes. :) Feel free to use the picture, btw.
ReplyDeleteI didn't start gardening seriously until both my kids were in high school and then discovered an unexpected passion (other than DC that is.)
DeleteI have often wanted an outdoor shower as well. It seems it would complete the gardening experience. The birds have it made because I have so many baths around for them. One day...
ReplyDeleteI hardly dare add an outdoor shower to my list of things I want in my new garden. It is getting a bit out of control.
DeleteSweet!! Chickadees are so fun to have around, and they can get quite tame. I would love an outdoor shower too, but maybe when we're in New Mexico on top of a mountain. : )
ReplyDeleteI am only entertaining this idea if it is very, very secluded.
ReplyDeletewhile we're dreaming, maybe a natural waterfall in the garden, falling into the stream? With lots of rocks and crevices for the chickadees and other birds and wildlife.
ReplyDeleteI'll take it. I love your Chickadee visitor. I bet he really enjoyed the water you provided him.
ReplyDeleteThat is cute! It would feel incredibly natural to have a shower outside... though I would need to live in a different location from my busy neighborhood to feel relaxed about it :)
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you know that I posted on using my garden journal last week at WMG, since you had left a comment to that effect a few weeks ago. Happy September!

The dripping urn set in the midst of bright flowers is a real treat for any bird - indeed comparable to the Roman bath. Its no wonder it stayed so long.
