I visited some inspiring gardens and you will get to hear all about them in due course. I'm thinking I might save those posts for the dreary days of winter when we all have more time. I'll give you the movie trailer versions for now.
Hidecote-the home and garden of Major Lawrence Johnston
Upton Grey Manor-the most accurately and fully restored Gertrude Jeykll garden in existence today
Gable House-a quintessential English garden
I'll leave you with an image of the humble corn poppy. The Brits are planting them everywhere in memory of the hundredth anniversary of WW1. It is a moving and poignant tribute.
Posts will be sporadic until the end of summer-I know you understand the call of the garden.
That must have been a great hollidays. The first two gardens I have visited in the past and I am looking forward to your pictures.
ReplyDeleteI totally understand! Sounds and looks like it was a trip full of beauty! Those poppies are outstanding! Happy gardening you....hope you get caught up on rest! Nicole xoxo
ReplyDeleteHurray! You're back! Those poppies are so beautiful - and an entire field of them! Will be looking forward to the pictorial moments - now, go take a nap...
ReplyDeleteSo many poppies- I love it!

I've never experienced jet lag. Don't think I would handle it well. The call of the garden is what has kept me from visiting as often as I would like. But, winter will be here all too soon.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poppies, I can't wait to see the rest of your photos. It's hard to get away when the garden is so needy isn't it? But what a great place to visit.
ReplyDeleteDelighted that you have had a good trip - jet lag is awful, it seems much more difficult to cope with as we get older.
ReplyDeleteLove your poppy field.
Welcome to Blighty...we're a weird lot but glad to have you here. Enjoy your visit :)
ReplyDeleteThose poppies are incredible! Jet lag is the worst. Hope you're back on local time soon. :o)
ReplyDeleteI love the brightness of the Poppy, and how delicate the petals are, like silk & spiderwebs.
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to see the gardens you visited and I hope to visit someday....adore the red poppies!
ReplyDeleteEvery single year I intend to plant corn poppies but the thought is like a mirage and melts away somehow as the growing season appears on the horizon. Next year I will try harder. Welcome back Susan, we await your travel tales!
ReplyDeleteI am visiting England as we speak, Susan. Jet lag is awful, but worth it. The poppies here are incredible aren't they? I haven't visited any of the gardens you were at, but managed some typical, English cottage gardens in their open house garden scheme. P. x
