Pea Campground

The peas had to go out into the big wide world. Frost tagged along on the heels of sunny days and clear skies. Plastic tents were the answer, draped over the new supports made by the AMP (absent minded professor). It looks like I've rented out the garden to particularly hardy campers.

The peas are not being hardy at all-flopping all over the place and looking pale and weak. The soil is far from warm which must have been a shock after their pampered existence in the sunroom. They will just have to buck up, won't they, or who knows what might happen.

I, myself, will be facing a challenge this weekend. I"m getting up earlier than is good for me to attend school. It is the annual Homesteading School Spring Boot Camp. I love the classes, meeting new people and the pervading goodwill. I only wish they had a kindergarten class because by lunchtime I'm ready for a nap. The AMP on the other hand laps it up, energetically taking notes and asking questions until the end-keener.

I'm taking Frugal Gardening, Animals in the Garden and other jolly things. AMP is taking Soil Building, Water Management and Understanding Microbes. I'll join him for Hot Composting, if I snooze I can rely on him for the notes. Although he did let me fall off a chair once, so he can't be relied on entirely.

  1. Hope your peas warm up. I'm going to have cover my little garden tonight. The temps are expected to drop in the 30's. Yikes! And that's after 2 weeks of mid 70's. AMP letting you fall out of the chair was too funny. Sorry, but I laughed.

  3. Love your tent idea . . . at first sight I thought you had sheets on the clothes line. I do love my sun dried sheets :) I haven't planted my peas yet, I'm thinking the first of April. Love the windmill. I just purchased one last week on-line. It should be here this week. It will be a nice little project to put together.
    Happy Spring!

  5. Never trust a man who will let you fall of a chair while you're sleeping! Just give him the notebook and head for a tea room!

    1. It was many years ago when he was an inexperienced husband. Tea room will now be in my repertoire of coping strategies.
