Puppies, Ambulance

My son reads my posts so his hair will be standing on end at my title. He already considers us unsafe to be left alone. I better get on with the story

We have puppies!

Honey
Rose
Rose has the anxious look perfected. Do not be taken in-she is the wild child of the pair.

What are they? Good question-the shelter was calling them lab mix-emphasis on the mix I would say. Honey does look like a mini lab-Rose more like a 18lb Chihuahua.

We collected them from the shelter in Vancouver on Wednesday-left home at 6am and crawled into our house four ferries and 13 hours later. I was exhausted and fell in to bed at nine-hubby (the night owl) was tasked with putting the girls to bed and getting himself something to eat and drink. He managed the girls to bed part. Then he fainted!

Long story short: All night in the emergency room. Diagnosis of dehydration. Hubs asleep wrapped in warm blankets as they poured I.V. fluids in him. Me beside him parked in a very hard chair. At one point I considered asking if I could sit with a more interesting patient but I thought they might not appreciate my sense of humour.

Home at 5:30am-I had now been awake for 24 hours-me who cannot manage on less than a solid nine. Alarm went off at 7am for me to take pups outside while hubs slept on. The puppies, by the way, slept through the whole thing.

  1. Ah, puppies--they'll sleep through anything. Hope your hubby is better!

  2. Oh my, what a day you had. I assume that everybody got their fluids and sleep and all is now well.

Having had to sit on a hard chair for hours in a hospital many, many times, I appreciate your joke.

  3. Now that's a 'remember when' as we call them in our family!

    1. Family stories are very important, especially for grandchildren, I think.

  4. Here, they have comfortable chairs. Okay, remember to hydrate him next time. I am with you on needing sleep, especially when it is hot. I probably need to go hydrate myself!

  5. Sometimes we try to fit just too much in - but pleased he is alright now and that the puppies have found themselves a good home.

  6. Pffft, that were a day and night.....Hope your hubby is well by now, and the puppies, so adorable, but they will need a lot of love and care, especially as they come from a shelter. Wish you lots of fun with them.

  7. Phew, did the dog shelter do any checks on you to see if you'd be a good owner and not abandoning them at the first available opportunity?!!! lol Just kidding, what a day and night….Poor you, my very best wishes for a speeding recovery to you all!!!
