One minute I was happily contemplating my garden and the next I was ripped from my wellies and on a 'plane to the big hospital in the city.
Seven weeks ago:
I had a kidney stone which introduced me to the local ER night shift (sad to say it was the B team or possibly the C or D). The little blighter shifted enough for the PAIN to decrease and get me booted out but refused to travel that last inch to freedom.
CT scan to see what was going on. Yup, stone was still there and a whole lot more!!!!
Five weeks: Fancier scan.
Crap-it is a whacking great aneurysm!
Vascular surgeon sees the pictures over his breakfast and chokes on his cornflakes.
This is where my wellies and I were parted.
Wonderful vascular team and someone called the intervention radiologist fix it.
While I'm incarcerated I get to see the gynae team about all the other stuff the original scan turned up. This team is headed by the Ice Queen. I shall cut you from stem to stern she says and whip out everything. I am tempted to say I guess my bikini days are over but I know it won't play well with this crowd.
Ice Queen gave me four weeks to recover from aneurysm before getting her hands on me. Well, that would be fine, if I hadn't had complications. Back to ER where fortunately the A team was on deck. Any fool could see it was a nightmare of a shift but they were still efficient, professional, cheerful and kind. I did glimpse one of the B team nurses and I gave her the stink eye. It was one of my best, she felt it alright.
We are now eleven days away from when IQ thinks we meet again. Not so fast lady, my amazing and wonderful sixteen yr old doctor here is monitoring the situation and says she will happily cancel on IQ if I don't pick up, or was that perk up, not sure.
There you have it. At least this time I'm prepared, new nighties, hair done, pedicure arranged (the wellie feet were a little embarrassing).
I'm not sure about keeping up the blog but I didn't want to leave my blog friends, who are really just as important to me as any other friend, without an explanation. I'm not giving up on reading your posts which have been an oh so welcome escape over the last few weeks. Thanks Everyone.
