Boys Having Fun and Family Celebration

There is nothing quite like a sunny morning for guys to gather for a septic inspection.

Just one of the many due diligence activities before sealing the deal on our new property.

Much more fun was the family get together to celebrate the engagement of our son D. to the lovely and fabulous M. Although the 'kids" are high powered young executives , they both come from good farming stock, which bodes well as far as I'm concerned.

We had a lovely evening at M's family farm.

Bubbly and scrumptious strawberry shortcake were on the menu.

D's English farming heritage:

Old Hall, Ringsfield
M's ranching roots:

The family ranch 1941
The scenery may be different but the values are the same.

Grandma Helen, who we met for the first time, and I, are both interested in family history. I look forward to many hours of pouring over photographs and listening to fascinating tales about the golden age of ranching.

  2. That septic-tank-guy-thing: so universal and very funny. But an engagement, in addition to your new house. A year of exciting changes!

    1. Not to mention commuting back and forth across the Rockies. At some time this has to calm down so I can do simple stuff like plant things in the ground.

  3. How wonderful to have your son marrying into such a nice family with similar values. Isn't this every parents' dream? I love it. That strawberry shortcake looks yummy!

What is your connection to Old Hall, Ringsfield? I would be really interested as it is my home. Georgina Johnson

  5. How interesting! I will try and give you a potted family history. My great grandfather John Thompson owned the Old Hall, his son another John then farmed it and I think, for a short while his son after him. John Sr moved to Church Farm, Weston and bought his other son, William, my grandfather, a farm near Ringsfield school. The two sons married sisters and many family occasions were celebrated at the Hall. I remember playing there as a child. I hope you don't mind my displaying the photograph. It was the only one usable of all the farms in the area the family has owned.

    1. I don't mind at all. Knowing who lived here in the past makes me feel more connected to the place. If you let me have the names of any other Farms etc. maybe I could send you photos of them.
