Raised Bed Redo

The AMP has spent the winter in the barn organising, almost completed to his satisfaction, it is finally time to start a project or two.

You can, apparently, never spend too long looking at planks of wood. Now I know what it feels like to wait for me in the garden centre. When it comes to utility grade no one checks-you just put it in your vehicle and tell them in the office how much you took. You can also have as many cedar chips as you want for free.

One down, nine more to go.

  1. Your green grass is looking awful good right now. I'd like to build a few when the snow melts.

    1. The grass is the winter rye we planted last fall as a cover crop. It sprang back into life about two weeks ago.

    1. There were ten beds in the original garden. We are just starting to restore them. A lot of soil has washed away so building them up will be the next project.

    1. It is the temporary feeling of satisfaction before the reality of planting, weeding and slug wars.

    1. I don't know if we will get all ten finished this year, if we get half that planted I'll be happy.

  6. I would love to have raised beds for planting a vegetable garden, but we don't have the space.

    Good luck finishing all 10.

  7. I know this is an odd comment but I like the way the raised beds were built with notched corners. I've never seen that done.

    2. Then be sure and tell him I'm a girl so he'll be REALLY impressed. He would expect a guy to notice that.

  8. raised flower beds are so nice. We used to have a large area with a raised flower bed but two years ago tore it out. The wood was old and rotting and we turned it into a rose garden.

    1. The wood had been taken of these beds too. Don't tempt me with roses, they are my passion. What roses did you put in?

  9. You've been much busier than I've been with my garden. This week I hope to get my potatoes, onions and seeds in. I ordered some quinoa to see if it will work on the hill where the water is limited. I really don't need extra potatoes from up there. - Margy
