According to Santos, the accident happened near a kiosk where she slipped on "old wet spinach or some other transitory substance" on the floor and was injured as a result of the fall. publix-supermarkets-v-santosMy winter garden has been a dismal failure. I resent having to buy week old, much travelled, gas guzzling produce at the grocery store. In this frame of mind, with my thoughts directed this time at spinach, I entered the produce aisle. Somebody had rammed far to many cartons into the chute. I pulled out the first one and thud, thud, thud three or four more flew out and hit me hard on the chest. I may have let out the tiniest squeak of surprise.
Moving on. I'm now part of a delightful garden club at the extended care unit. Us able bodied folks do the heavy lifting and our buddies do what they can. We planted over a hundred bulbs under their supervision a few weeks ago. With colder weather upon us we have moved indoors. Last week we filled pinecones with peanut butter and rolled them in birdseed. It was our job to take the cones outside and hang them in the tree in front of the sitting area window. We must recruit some taller people. After a bit of a struggle a member of our group had the brilliant idea to create nunchuks-twine with a cone at each end-and throw them as high as we could at the tree. The ECU is looking forward to our return, we make wonderful pre-lunch entertainment.
Ho Ho Ho. The hubs and I were volunteering at the Christmas Train last night. In this case he was doing all the heavy lifting and I was running around playing with children and chatting with friends. We had a large turnout, everyone had fun and we collected donations for the food bank too.
Next week Mon, Wed and Thurs I'm back at the library working the donation desk. I'm making gingerbread men to lure people into my lair.
I think that leaves me about a week to prepare for Christmas. Should be enough....
